Heli locations Departing Wanaka

Twin peaks

Possibly my fave. Located over on Minaret Station with sweeping views right up and down Lake Wanaka, as well as back up to Mt Aspiring. Snowy in winter, tussocks and rocks in summer. The perfect setting to balance epic lake views and get that rugged alpine feel!

COROMANDEL PEAK

Coromandel Peak, also known as Roy's Peak, is Wanaka’s most popular location. This iconic location looks north up to the top of Lake Wanaka, as well as views west and south across the adjacent valleys. Limited availability for exclusive landings. It still takes my breath away every time!

FOG PEAK

For couples who love big mountains, right up in the Mt Aspiring National Park behind Wanaka, this location offers a true alpine feel with dramatic views. Plenty of snow in the winter, and rocky in the summer, Fog Peak is perfect for wrapping up warm and venturing about!

MT BURKE

Take a flight to spectacular Mt Burke, overlooking Lake Wanaka with views from Glendhu Bay all the way up to Makarora. A great option featuring rolling golden tussocks, farm tracks, snow in the winter and some pretty dramatic cliffs. Perfect for catching those epic sunsets!

ALTA TARNS

A beautiful series of small alpine tarns set alongside the Buchanan Mountains across the lake from Wanaka. Have both secluded settings as well as big views over the Matukituki Valley. Tussocks and small rocky outcrops everywhere. A surreal getaway in summer, and snowy wonderland in winter!

THE PENINSULA

Located right in the centre of Lake Wanaka is the Peninsula or Stevenson's Arm. Often overlooked, this place is an incredible option with views out over the lake from many angles. There’s some epic cliffs and is usually accessible when there's some wind about.

Pyke’s Hut

Situated in the heart of the Minarets you’ll find native forest, an open field, flowing river and an alpine hut. Views are from the valley looking straight up at the mountains. This location is perfect for those days when the wind is up and you need a sheltered haven away from it all. Highly rated!

Lochnagar

Located out by the glaciers, this alpine lake is tucked in amongst some of the most dramatic backdrops out there. With a range of beach landings, it the perfect place for an uninterrupted elopement or photo session. Make sure you bring insect repellant if there’s no wind :)

ISOBEL GLACIER

When there’s the call for snow. All year round we can access a snow landing at Isobel Glacier. Includes the most amazing flight in, big views along with an ever-changing landscape with a network of glacial ice, snow, frozen ponds and incredible rock gardens.

LOOKOUT HILL

One of my faves. Lookout Hill is one of Wanaka’s best kept secrets. An awesome array of jagged rock faces and cliffs overlooking Lake Wanaka. The perfect option if you want to get away from it all and have a photographic playground you won’t forget!

DRAGONFLY PEAK

Where the big mountains get bigger. At an elevation of 7000 feet, lake views are replaced with epic valleys and dramatic cliffs. Often with snow about, be ready for an adventure here. On a clear day you can even see the top of Mt Cook from here. Another one of my faves…

Tyndall Glacier

Possibly the most amazing natural alpine arena. The incredible south facing alternative that backs onto Isobel Glacier, positioned in an ever changing landscape that looks up toward Mt Tyndall. Snow landings are available here all year round.

Lake Erskine

Lake Erskine is easily one of the most iconic and remote locations on offer. A perfectly positioned alpine lake with a snowy mountain backdrop, paired with a waterfall flowing into epic valley views, there’s no shortage of jaw dropping scenery here.
